Elephants are no strangers to being used as a metaphor.
The pink elephant in the room. He has the memory of elephant. There is also the story of the blind men and the elephant.
However, perhaps the best known elephant metaphor is: “How do you eat an elephant?”
The answer? “One bite at a time.”
It sounds silly. Maybe you’ve heard it before. Maybe you haven’t. But as silly as it might seem, the lesson is powerful.
It doesn’t matter how big the task ahead of you is… if you take it one small step at a time, anything is possible.
As the famous Chinese proverb states: “A thousand mile journey begins with one small step.”
You may be thinking… okay, what’s with all the metaphors?
Well, right now it may feel as if you have a “college recruitment elephant” standing before you. Maybe your daughter needs a scholarship. Maybe she needs to learn how to talk to coaches or attend a showcase to get exposure. Either way, the task can seem too big and intimidating to accomplish.
But we are here to tell you it’s not.
Getting your daughter into college is not an impossible task. It doesn’t have to be intimidating. And it doesn’t have to be as painful as eating an elephant.
We as coaches have taken this, “one bite at a time” psychology approach, and applied it to the college hockey recruiting process.
You see, our program helps high school female student-athletes get into college in “bite- sized” chunks. We use “progressive learning modules” to take your daughter along the path of least resistance.
Finding Scholarships
We had one client named Colleen whose specific problem was getting a scholarship.
She had plenty of interest from schools, but they all cost $30,000 or more. One of her choices was well over $50k per year. That translates to almost a quarter million dollars for 4 years in college!
No wonder why most students get overwhelmed and frustrated when researching costs of colleges… but not our clients.
In fact, we break it down into 3 easy steps:
- Fill out a few forms online.
- Our partners do some research.
- Apply for scholarships.
Within a few hours, Colleen had $77,000 worth of scholarships for her to apply for and earn.
These are the kinds of results you can expect when you eat the “college recruitment elephant” one bite at a time.
So what are you waiting for?
Take your first bite out of the “college recruitment elephant” today and get your daughter on the path to getting into college. The first bite may be the hardest bite to take. But it’s also the most important one.
